LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Sunnybrooke pool community,


Another wonderful summer has come and gone. I think that as far as heat goes, 2011 proved to be the scorcher of all scorchers!

We will remember summer 2011 fondly. We thank our guards for a wonderful summer, and though some of them will be moving on to bigger and better things, we will always remember them, what they taught us and the smiles on their faces. Best of luck to Karolyn Long, Jill Routledge, Val Haber and Jess
Panetta!

While thoughts of the summer and of swimming on a hot day surely feel like distant memories, this coming summer is fast approaching. Just like every other year, a lot must be done before Sunnybrooke can open its gates to its members and the public next summer. This is where our volunteers come in. Sadly, the most recent AGM has seen the resignation of our very dedicated bunch of flexible, hard-working and selfless individuals that constituted our committee. We are very sad to see Enza Stabile, Shawna Lambert, Carol Jones, Madelene DePede, Sebastiano Stabile, Nancy Lunny and Mary van der Sluys leave; their hard work leaves next year's committee big shoes to fill!

With these resignations, there remain several spots to be filled...and they must be filled by our Sunnybrooke members (or even our condo friends
from Glenview)! This is your chance to step up and have a say in the affairs of Sunnybrooke pool. Any help is appreciated, and we need all the help we can
get to keep Sunnybrooke 'sunny' for summers to come!

We will be holding a committee meeting on Thursday, October 13 in the chalet next to Sunnybrooke pool (address 4 Cadman). If you intend on offering to fill one of these vacancies, please let me know beforehand. I can be reached at (514) 886-0613.

A summer pool membership is really unlike anything else. It forms friendships and memories that one never forgets, and gives kids the chance to play certain sports seasonally that they would otherwise not have the opportunity to partake in.
When one does the raw calculation for a typical family of 4 people that spends around 4 hours a day at the pool, it costs about 26 cents an hour for membership. Compare these figures to those of a daycamp! But as shockingly low as these figures are, membership is still waning. It's as simple as this: we must spread the word that Sunnybrooke is the incredible haven that it is, and that the cost of membership is unbelievably low. It is up to each and every one of us to spread the word, because non-members don't know what they're missing!
